FAQ

What you should know

What is the Hague apostille?

An official certificate confirming the authenticity of a document so it is recognized in countries that are party to the Hague Convention. Without it, many foreign institutions will not accept Romanian documents.

Which documents can be apostilled?

Civil status documents, criminal records, diplomas and education documents, notarial deeds, court rulings. The apostille is issued by the competent institution for each document type — we tell you exactly which one and what it involves.

Do I need an apostille or legalization?

It depends on the destination country: Hague Convention states require an apostille, the others require consular legalization. Tell us where you will submit the document and we confirm the correct procedure.

Is the apostille applied to the original or to the translation?

It depends on the receiving institution: sometimes only the original document, sometimes the notarized translation as well. We check the requirement for your case before starting, so you don’t pay for unnecessary steps.
